Please answer one or more areas in which you would like to volunteer: Pet Socialization - Companionship to sheltered animals awaiting adoption: walking, brushing, grooming dogs and cats.
Pets in Public - Adoptable animals to public places, create awareness of HSCC and its mission. Walk animals in parades.
Greeter - Meet customers entering shelter, explain adoption procedures, lost pet information, assist customers in pet selection.
Community Events - Assist in setting up and operation of displays and booths for community events.
Emergency Response - Aid the community in the evacuation of animals during natural disasters.
Shelter Caretaker - Gardening, carpentry, caretaking, maintaining the pet walk, assist in cleaning kennel cages.
Lost Pet Tracker - Cross-reference Lost and Found pet reports and newspaper reports with animals held in the shelter.
Foster Care Cats - Care for pregnant mothers and newborn babies until 8 weeks of age and other medical care needs.
Foster Care Dogs - Foster care is in your home until available for adoption. Be able to possibly assist with medical funds.
Hauling Things - Need trucks and vans to help move things such as larger donations and special event equipment.
Fund Raisers - Assist in activities to raise money for shelter projects and special events. Experience in Fund Raising is Helpful.
Clerical - Assist the Staff with preparing reports, filing, labeling of newsletters and other administrative duties as necessary.

REQUIREMENTS TO VOLUNTEER AT HSCC:

You must be over the age of 14 and have a desire to help animals.  Children younger than 14 may work with the supervision of an adult of their choosing (parent, older friends, etc.)  Shelter staff does not supervise young people.   The volunteer will work closely with the shelter staff, the Education Specialist, kennel personnel and the Director of Community Relations.
